ALS United Greater New York will hold their annual Walk ALS New York City on Saturday, May 4th at South Street Seaport - Pier 16. Check-in begins at 9:00am. Walk starts at 11:00am. Rain or Shine.

Walk ALS New York City raises funds that will support individuals and families affected by Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS.) Each year, fundraising through the Walk program drives bold and urgent innovation as we march together toward a cure.

ALS is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although it is primarily an adult-onset disease. Currently there is no known cause or cure.

ALS United Greater New York provides local, on-the-ground services to patients and families living with ALS throughout the Greater New York area, including New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, the Hudson Valley, and northern and central New Jersey. For the last 30 years, the organization that is now ALS United Greater New York has ensured the highest standard and continuity of care for the ALS community, while facilitating the search for effective treatments and cures.
