This summer, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is once again bringing its iconic NYC classrooms to your location through virtual long and short-term Precollege online classes. The programs provide middle and high school students with virtual experiential learning, and offers parents, K-12 educators, and youth organizations an insightful lens into FIT's majors and the wide-ranging industries FIT serves. The courses are taught by renowned FIT faculty and cover diverse fields including fashion, advertising, photography, merchandising, illustration, interior design, fine arts, and more.

FIT's 30+ Precollege Workshops focus on a specific set of skills or interests that may span several majors. These 4-day programs are perfect for students who are hobbyists, are new to Precollege programs, or have limited time. Summer 2021 highlights include: • Experimenting with Color: Delve into the world of color as you explore color-wheel mixing, color temperature, color harmonies, and color painting. You will create a number of compositions with a focus on color, working abstractly, and using texture and collaging to create final projects. • Basic Drawing Skills: This course will introduce you to general drawing principles and techniques. Observational drawing is introduced with a focus on line, contour, shading, composition, and perspective. • Fashion: From Drawing to Runway: This class will teach you the steps need to make your FASHION RUNWAY dreams a reality. Learn how your women's wear designs travel through the fashion design process; how to translate inspiration into sketches and mood/design boards; why one fabric is better than another; what happens in the pattern room; how the factory works; what it takes to produce a runway show; and finally, how your designs end up in a store! After this class you will know how a real designer puts a line together and have a road map for your future.

Deadline to submit is Tuesday, June 2nd.
