Dogs of War and Peace at Museum of the Dog

The AKC Museum of the Dog is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibit, “Dogs of War and Peace: Bond Beyond the Battlefield" on March 16. This exhibit will feature ten life-sized, carved-wood allegorical memorials by sculptor James Mellick on display from his “Wounded Warrior Dogs” and “Over the Rainbow Bridge” collections, along with the museum’s permanent collection, which includes sculptures, paintings, collars, vests, photographs and more. Celebrating the bond beyond the battlefield, this installation will highlight military dogs from WWII to Afghanistan. Mellick says that the exhibit of wounded and rehabilitated dogs aims to draw attention to the service and heroism of dogs in the military.
