Hope Against Hope at The NYC AIDS Memorial | May 4–5, 2024
HOPE AGAINST HOPE is a two-day program catalyzed by artist Ines Doujak’s decades-spanning practice, and features words and works from contributors such as Pamela Sneed, Batalà, Paloma Contreras Lomas, Ines Doujak, Manuela Moscoso, Nimmi Goweinathan, and Loretta Ross. Throughout the program sculptures and costumes move from display to play, asserting presences on the street, honoring women land defenders, anti-capitalist environmental movements, and the intersections between struggles for liberation across class, race, and gender. Pasts and futures of hope are weaved together by the feminist poets, activists, musicians and other participants to form a chorus of voices calling for liberation from patriarchal oppression.
