Broadway's Soul Doctor Announces Launch of Talkback Tuesdays & High Holy Day Schedule


The new Broadway musical Soul Doctor, about the life and music of Shlomo Carlebach and his unlikely friendship with Nina Simone, has announced its performance schedule during the upcoming High Holy Days. Also, “Talkback Tuesday” will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd with Michael Steinhardt, co-founder of Taglit-Birthright Israel. This post-show discussion will take place immediately following that performance and is free for all audience members attending that evening’s show.

The High Holyday / September schedule will be as follows:
September 1 – 7: Sunday at 3pm; Tuesday at 7pm; Wednesday at 2pm & 8pm; Thursday (Rosh Hashanah) at 7pm; Friday at 8pm; Saturday at 2pm and 8pm. (Dark Monday, September 2.)
September 8 – 14: Sunday at 3pm; Monday at 7pm; Tuesday at 7pm; Wednesday at 2pm & 8pm; Thursday at 7pm; Saturday (Yom Kippur) at 2pm and 8pm. (Dark Friday, September 13.)
September 15 – 21: Sunday at 3pm; Wednesday at 2pm & 8pm; Thursday (Sukkot) at 7pm; Saturday at 2pm and 8pm. (Dark Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17.)

September 22 – 28: Sunday at 2pm and 7:30pm; Monday at 2pm and 8pm; Wednesday at 2pm & 8pm; Friday (Simchat Torah) at 8pm; Saturday at 2pm and 8pm. (Dark Tuesday, September 24 and Thursday, September 26.)
From September 29, the schedule will be: Tuesday at 7pm (with free post-show discussion for all members attending that evening’s performance); Wednesday at 2pm and 8pm; Thursday at 7pm; Friday at 8pm; Saturday at 2pm and 8pm; Sunday at 3pm.


Soul Doctor opened Thursday, August 15 at Circle in the Square Theatre (1633 Broadway, entrance on 50th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue).  Charles Isherwood, writing in The New York Times, praised Soul Doctor for being “an unabashedly celebratory show” that’s “a little bit Fiddler, a little bit Hair” and “a fascinating story.” The Associated Press hailed the show as “a spectacular life journey!”  All tickets range in price from $39 – $135 and can be purchased through www.SoulDoctorBroadway.com, by calling (212) 239-6200, or at the Circle in the Square box office.
