The 'Bring Back Britney' Grassroots Campaign Begins at Madame Tussauds

"Can Britney be saved?" was the question that was asked at the unveiling of Madame Tussauds New York's Britney Spears wax figure. The figure - scantily clad in a sparkly gold two-piece - is a pre-baby, pre-Federline likeness of the pop star and features animatronics technology that allows "Britney's" breasts to heave up and down. Attached to a stripper pole, the figure is provocatively posed upside down with its back arched.

The unveiling of the wax figure launches "Bring Back Britney" – an internet grassroots movement started by Madame Tussauds to restore Spears to her former glory as a sexy starlet. The campaign blitz begun with the unveiling of the "vintage" Britney wax figure and a special internet video (done as a PSA) urging fans to log onto www.BringBackBritney.com to sign an online petition to help "Save Britney... from herself, from her husband and from her relentless fertility." On the website, fans can view the video, as well as print out downloadable "Bring Back Britney" picket signs and submit their favorite "vintage" Britney moments. Website visitors are also invited to Madame Tussauds to see the "Britney of 2000" figure and return to "happier times" when Britney was single, sexy and svelte.

"We are excited to bring Britney Spears' figure to Madame Tussauds in Times Square and lead the charge to help "Bring Back Britney,"" said Janine DiGioacchino, General Manager, Madame Tussauds New York. "Over the past few years, Britney's public pop star persona has taken a hit, and we're thrilled to spearhead a movement to help Britney regain her former glory. Our wax figure is a tribute to the "Britney of 2000" - when she was one of the hottest young pop stars and on top of the world."
