As we come down the homestretch on 2021 we are feeling thankful at City Guide. Thankful for the return of international tourists. Thankful for vaccines and the new treatments that will allow us to come together again. Thankful for governmental support and its promotion of our city. Most of all we are thankful for our colleagues and all our loyal partners. As we reflect with friends and family this weekend, we will feel grateful we have such a strong, vibrant community in New York City tourism, one that has better times ahead on the near horizon. 

Day 473 and it ends. COVID restrictions have been lifted in New York. Yesterday the governor's office made the announcement as the state hit the 70% adult vaccination threshold. This means no more social distancing or capacity limits—at least as far as the state is concerned—for sports, malls, gyms, movie theaters, or camps. Health screening is done. So is contact tracing. Despite the many losses of these past 473 days, we expect the city to move to a more celebratory stance, and the latest slate of launches supports that.

In the City That Never Sleeps, there’s always something to do at any time of day, from the conventional daytime options to the more unconventional nighttime options. But if you’re in need of some ideas for sheer entertainment, here are four of the best entertainment experiences NYC has to offer.

A shiny New Year has arrived, urging us to plunge (headlong or otherwise) into our annual list of resolutions. Dieting and de-cluttering aside, I recommend tackling the fun stuff first, especially the resolve to up our live entertainment ante—New York City theatre in particular.

I suspect the writers of The Play That Goes Wrong had a bit of trouble coming up with a name for their fabulously frenetic show. I mean, it could’ve easily been called “The Script That Goes Wrong,” “The Set That Runs Amok,” or “The Cast That Couldn’t Shoot Straight.” Still, in terms of comic genius, everything about the production is very, very right.
