Show Up, Kids! Interactive Comedy
Following the critically acclaimed 2-year run in theaters around the world, and the 12-month online live run during lockdown, Peter Michael Marino’s interactive “Show Up, Kids!” is back on stage with a new cast. The show will be performed in English, Spanish, and Japanese this June and July at NYC’s legendary Kraine Theatre.
This entirely unique, semi-improvised, family comedy for kids 3-10 years old (and their grownups) puts a wild twist on the traditional kids’ show. When the main attraction doesn’t show up, the kids are enlisted to help create a show on the spot from plot to props and costumes to characters. What could possibly go wrong?
Denisse Estefany Mendoza stars in the show in June. On Saturdays, the show will be performed in Spanish and on Sundays the show will be performed in English. In July, Kent Morita takes the reins with Japanese-language shows on Saturdays, and English shows on Sundays.
Says creator Peter Michael Marino, “Performing the show for the past three years made me realize how much this unique show inspires kids. I felt it was vital for the show to be more accessible to kids from all backgrounds. Thanks to a generous grant from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, we were able to have the script translated, and cast two top-notch actor/improvisors to take over the show.”
“Show Up, Kids!” is made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by LMCC.
