Valley of the Dolls
A decade after Peyton Place, Robson piloted (this time also as producer) another book phenomenon into a smash film, though the only Oscar nod here came for John Williams' score. Camp classic though it may be, the movie has endured as a template for cautionary showbiz tales: addictions, self-esteem issues, health problems, and man trouble take their tolls on Patty Duke, Barbara Parkins, and Sharon Tate even as they do their best to be supportive of each other.
