Guests at GatherNYC are served exquisite live classical music by New York's most celebrated artists, a taste of the spoken word from storytellers who are NYC-based winners of the Moth StorySLAM and other prestigious competitions, and a brief celebration of silence. The entire experience lasts one hour and evokes the community and spiritual nourishment of a religious service - but the religion is music, and all are welcome. This fall GatherNYC's Sunday morning concerts are held at the series' new home at the Museum of Arts and Design in Columbus Circle, in The Theater at MAD, fully restored to its original mid-century design.

On Sunday, November 14, GatherNYC presents the "electrifying" (The New York Times) collective American Contemporary Music Ensemble in "Recounting," a program of music that retells a story in string quartet form by composers Caroline Shaw, Susie Ibarra, Raven Chacon, and Philip Glass.

Since 2004, led by cellist and artistic director Clarice Jensen, ACME has risen to the highest ranks of American new music through a mix of meticulous musicianship, artistic vision, engaging collaborations, and unwavering standards in every regard. The membership of the amorphous collective includes some of the brightest young stars in the field. NPR calls them "contemporary music dynamos," and Strings reports, "ACME's absorbing playing pulsed with warm energy. . . Shared glances and inhales triggered transitions in a flow so seamless it seemed learned in a Jedi temple." ACME was honored by ASCAP during its 10th anniversary season in 2015 for the "virtuosity, passion, and commitment with which it performs and champions American composers."
