Family Time at BHS DUMBO – The Roebling Bridges
Join us on Saturday, December 7 as part of Brooklyn Historical Society's for free family programming at BHS DUMBO.
Did you know the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges have a significant connection with a certain family that loves bridges? Let’s celebrate bridges in Brooklyn! A few of John Roebling’s descendants are coming to Brooklyn Historical Society to read stories and help us conduct two experiments to learn about how some their family’s bridges were built. National Grid will be on hand to discuss the importance of natural gas, similar to the gas lighting used on the Brooklyn Bridge soon after it was built! Families are welcome to design and build their own bridges.
