New York Theatre's February Celebrity Scene

The crush of powerhouse players steamrolling their way onto Broadway this February says it all: 2017’s superstar muscle has arrived.

From the irresistible teaming of Jake Gyllenhaal and Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford in a revival of Sunday in the Park with George (at Broadway’s newly resurrected Hudson Theatre), to Oscar winner Sally Field and Tony winner Joe Mantello headlining Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie, to the platinum cast of Arthur Miller’s The Price (Mark Ruffalo, Tony Shalhoub, Jessica Hecht, and Danny DeVito), the previews alone are shaping up to sell out. And I haven’t even gotten to Glenn Close coming to the Palace Theatre for a revival of her Tony-winning portrayal of faded silver screen diva Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical take on Billy Wilder’s Sunset Boulevard.

Meanwhile Off-Broadway, Little Miss Sunshine Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin and Isabelle Fuhrman (Clove in The Hunger Games) play 14-year old BFFs looking to accelerate their move to maturity in All the Fine Boys at the Ford Foundation Studio Theatre.

At the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre you’ll find Evening at Talk House, featuring a script by Wallace Shawn (My Dinner with Andre, Princess Bride) and starring Tony winner Matthew Broderick, Tony nominee Claudia Shear (Dirty Blonde), John Epperson (aka Lipsynka), husband and wife Michael Tucker and Jill Eikenberry (L.A. Law) and Larry Pine, last seen Off-Broadway in Sam Shepard’s Buried Child.
