Featured on the Katie Couric Show and CBS Morning News, Liquid Lab capitalizes on the mixology craze with a wide range of events from its Williamsburg headquarters. Its popular Mixology 101 classes are held on Saturdays, during which students take a quick tour through several spirits and how they’re incorporated into cocktails. With your own shaker, you’ll be guided through a few recipes and engage in some friendly competition at the end of the class. An upscale bar in Chinatown, Apotheke has created its own Apotheke Academy for aspiring martini-makers. Its upcoming classes, hosted at the bar, include Market Fresh, featuring instruction in the use of seasonal herbs, produce, and botanicals. You’ll get lessons in mezcal and tequila at the Spirits of Mexico class and learn about the origin of classic cocktails at the Prohibition Era class.
