Spyder Pop Records Showcase with Bill Lloyd, Lannie Flowers, Danny Wilkerson, and Special Guests Slyboots - The Bowery Electric
September 13, 2019 - New York

Slyboots' unique yet cohesive sound can be attributed to their different tastes, but similar inspirations. There's overlap in their influences: The Beatles, David Bowie, The Cure and their shared admiration of strong females that have paved the way, e.g., Talking Heads' Tina Weymouth, multidisciplinary artist Grimes and prolific songwriter Julia Michaels. Their band name came about when Slyboots was the "word of the day" on KG*'s phone. It made the shortlist and then stuck because they decided the definition "one who is cunning or mischievous in an engaging way" fit their personalities and vibe implicitly. And their dynamic live set embodies this playful misbehavior. There's confidence emanating from the stage and mystique that can only be had when three powerhouse females team up, soar over life's hurdles, and do what they were born to do.

Finish Ticket - Mercury Lounge
September 13, 2019 - New York

Finish Ticket is a band of brothers and friends from the San Francisco Bay Area. The group was formed in 2008 by twin brothers Brendan and Michael Hoye and good friend Alex DiDonato in high school. Influenced by bands like The Killers and The Strokes, they shared a vision of blending dynamic, guitar-driven rock with upbeat, melodic and pop hooks, with an emphasis on a thrilling, high-energy live show. "In the early days, no one would take us seriously because of our age," says guitarist Alex DiDonato. "We were playing shows in bars every weekend with bands of people in their mid-to-late 20s, and we were only 16-17. We realized that our live show had to be awesome to change everyone's perception, and that became our driving force. Our goal was to prove to everyone that we were serious about our music, that we were more than just a high school band." They quickly honed their skills and rose through the ranks of the local music scene, winning a competition to open a local radio station's annual arena show, and eventually opening for bands like Phoenix and The Black Keys. After the independent release of their self-produced 2013 album, Tears You Apart, the band toured nationally and ha... (read more)

Steve Forbert and the New Renditions - The Boulton Center
September 13, 2019 - Bay Shore

Steve Forbert leaves no stone unturned in his exploration of life, love, turmoil, and survival. After years with local bands, Steve Forbert left his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi in his early 20s and headed for the Big Apple in search of recording deals and larger audiences. He started out playing for change at Grand Central Station and hitting every open mic night he could before eventually moving into the club scene at infamous spots like New York City's CBGB's. At a time when rootsy rock was fading in favor of punk edged bands such as the Ramones, Talking Heads, and Blondie, Forbert's folk-pop "Romeo's Tune" hit #11 on the charts and brought him into the international spotlight. Critics and the public embraced his melodic and lyrical styles, a more traditional sound among the post-disco punk and rock of the late '70s and early '80s. Always following his own instincts, Forbert says, "I've never been interested in changing what I do to fit popular style and needs." And that's the motto he has lived by since the release of his debut album, Alive on Arrival, in 1978. Johnny A. & Kasim Sulton Songs & Stories, an Intimate Evening - The Boulton Center
September 14, 2019 - Bay Shore

One of the most revered guitarists working the scene today, Boston's own Johnny A. has created a 3 plus decade-spanning career built on his virtuosic playing, compositional fortitude and distinctive style. Sure, lots of folks throw around the phrase "let the music do the talking," but only a few have the fortitude to really do it – to just go out there and play, shunning flash, shrugging off image and reeling in the listener on the strength of the songs alone. Johnny A. is that kind of performer. This Massachusetts-based guitarist and bandleader have proven himself capable of generating heat at venues from working-class bars to international amphitheaters – and every sort of venue in between. And when the house lights are turned up, he's just as adept at captivating serious students of the six-string with a virtuosity that earned him the rare honor of having his name placed on Signature Gibson® and Epiphone® guitars. That take-no-prisoners attitude has been ingrained in Johnny A. since he first set foot on a stage, whether as leader of locally-acclaimed Boston acts like Hearts on Fire or in the company of acclaimed artists like Bobby Whitlock (Derek and the Dominos) or J. Geils f... (read more)

From their subterranean throwdowns in their Brooklyn corner known as the Marcy Hotel, to the 2005 founding and continued expansion of their family of labels, amid the warm winters and electric environs of Miami – it's always been about the two of them enjoying life, learning to live with each other, and making friends and fans that become part of the crew.
