Hunny Ten All Poets and Heroes - Funk 'n Waffles
October 18, 2019 - Syracuse

Ages 18 and Up Blending the symbolism and storytelling of folk music with pop melodies and the drive of alternative rock, All Poets & Heroes produces songs that are at once introspective, exposed and hopeful. Comprised of songwriters Rob McCall (lead vocals, guitar) and Corey Jordan (guitar, vocals), and Billy Harrison on drums – the band creates songs that question and consider human existence. They chose the name "all poets and heroes" from Henry David Thoreau's Walden feeling it a fitting testament to their lyrics. The group self-released Where We Lived and What We Lived For on October 1, 2017. They constructed this EP to display the full potential of their sound, but left room to grow. At a time when the world seems focused on seeking material success and wanting more of everything, AP&H is making music that connects us with human nature and creates hope that people are meant for more. The band juxtaposes a raw rock sound with lyrics and melodies crafted like wandering poetry and linked by catchy refrains, to create music that listeners can relate to and a live sound that makes audiences move.

Mahalia - Music Hall of Williamsburg
October 18, 2019 - Brooklyn

Ages: 18 & Over It's hard to believe that an artist with an output and reputation as strong as Mahalia's hasn't released an album yet. But having signed to Asylum Records via Atlantic at the age of 13, before taking the time to finish school in her hometown of Leicester and find her sound, Mahalia's entire career has been an exercise in intuition and patience. A testament to the success of major label patience, even at a young age Mahalia, born Mahalia Burkmar, chose not to allow the pressure of signing to rush her process and growth as a young artist. She began releasing acoustic music in her late teens before moving down to London to pursue her career after high school. Appreciative of the relationships she's been able to nurture with her record label, Mahalia once even joked that she's a 'label baby' though she strives to maintain a level of creative independence at all times.

Relix notes: "James Maddock possesses the kind of lived-in, craggy voice that would sound authoritative if he were singing the sports pages. Fortunately, he doesn't need to do that because his compositional skills are a match for his delivery." His consistency as a recording artist and a captivating live performer have attracted a devoted fanbase engaged and generous enough to fan fund the last two entries in his six-album oeuvre. He's performed with Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nile, Aaron Comess (Spin Doctors) and David Immergluck (Counting Crows), sang on an album with Susan McKeown, and has built a respected international profile through tireless touring from the Northeast US to Europe to Australia.

The Cactus Blossoms - Murmrr
October 19, 2019 - Brooklyn

The Cactus Blossoms bring their sweet harmonies to Murmrr Theatre in Brooklyn. This is an amazing setting for the band. Blood Harmony. Whether it's The Beach Boys, Bee Gees or First Aid Kit, that sibling vocal blend is the secret sauce in some of the most spine-tingling moments in popular music. The Cactus Blossoms – Minneapolis-based brothers Page Burkum and Jack Torrey – offer compelling evidence that this tradition is alive and well, with a deceptively unadorned musical approach that offers "creative turns of phrase, gorgeous harmonies, and an ageless sound" (NPR All Things Considered), not to mention spine tingles aplenty. Their 2016 debut You're Dreaming, a stunning and transporting collection of original songs, earned high praise from Rolling Stone and Vice Noisey, tour stints with Kacey Musgraves and Lucius, and a perfectly cast performance on the third season of David Lynch's Twin Peaks. Now their unlikely rise continues with new album Easy Way, to be released on their own label Walkie Talkie Records.
