Branching Out on the Lower East Side

The Lower East Side is a nightlife center of New York City, but beyond its many bars and live music halls, there are plenty of great things to check out. Read on for some ideas for branching out on the LES.

1. Grab a sandwich at Katz’s

Katz's Delicatessen

This legendary Lower East Side landmark has been around since 1888, and it is completely understandable why this deli is still up and running. The food at Katz’s is world famous, and you can’t leave New York City without saying you’ve had one of their generously portioned, famous sandwiches. Aim for an over-the-top pastrami. You’ll be looking at sandwiches differently after that. katzsdelicatessen.com

2. Grab some brunch at Fool's Gold

Fool's Gold is a craft beer and American whiskey bar. It also serves great brunch and lunch food. If you’re also interested in various sports, this might be a great spot for you to have one of your daily meals as you're likely to find a soccer match or another type of game playing on one of their many TVs. Fool's Gold is located strategically in the middle of everything, so your next adventure is just a walk away. foolsgoldnyc.com

3. Sipping on some cocktails at Attaboy

When in New York City, treat yourself to some fancy cocktails. Relax and pretend to be a character in Sex and the City for the night. You’ll quickly understand why the cocktails are a bit on the pricey side when you have your hands on one. Attaboy’s cocktails are a mix between classic and creative, and they’re mouthwatering. Enjoy a nice cocktail in a stylish setting and enjoy the atmosphere of New York City. punchdrink.com/venues/attaboy/

4. Check out the Bowery Graffiti Wall

Technically the Bowery Graffiti Wall may be on the Bowery, but it's so close that it doesn’t make a difference. You can easily walk on over for to view the graffiti wall while you’re down in the Lower East Side, which I highly recommend. The wall is a famous place for artists to visit and add their work. A ton of famous and successful artists have been invited to come work on the walls and have rotated murals over the years.

5. Go vintage shopping at Ted's Formal Wear/Ted’s Fine Clothing

Ted's Formal Wear, also known as Ted’s Fine Clothing, is a vintage clothing store located on Orchard Street with a focus on classic rock t -shirts. If you’re a big music geek or into vintage clothing or  you should add Ted's Formal Wear to the list of places you want to visit while you’re on the LES.
