Francesc Tosquelles: Avant-Garde Psychiatry and the Birth of Art Brut
Explore the intersection of art and psychiatry in this exhibition highlighting the legacy of Catalan psychiatrist Francesc Tosquelles. Learn about a kind of practice he called “institutional psychotherapy," which he developed after fleeing Spain for Southern France during the Spanish Civil War. It prompted artists like Jean Dubuffet to expand upon the definition of “art brut," and the exhibition also includes artworks by a variety of other European artists.
